The Gold Coast really is such a spectacular place to live. Where else can you pile on a bus in the middle of winter and head to the beach for a picnic in the sunshine?

Last month, we did just that and headed to Currumbin Valley for a picnic by the sea. Heading out in the morning, we took the coastal route down admiring the view as we drove.

The kitchen had packed us a yummy lunch of rolls, cakes and warm drinks, and we set up camp on the picnic benches to take in the view out towards the ocean.

Afterwards we walked along the waterfront and marvelled at the talent of the local surfers making the most of one of the Gold Coast’s more famous surf breaks.

Such a lovely day we had, chatting amongst friends and breathing in the lovely sea air.

On the way home we had a cheeky stop at McDonalds to purchase 15 ice-cream cones for the ride home – they loved us at the drive through 🙂
