In April, one of our lovely aged care residents, Anastasia Plucinski turned 100 and we were very privileged to be able to share in the celebrations.
With our chef baking a lovely cake and Anastasia’s daughter Krystyna, granddaughter in-law and her two great children joining us to share in the celebrations. They kindly brought in a large photo montage of Ana. We actually hadn’t seen any pictures of Ana in her youth before so it was very special to see.
A local journalist joined us for the celebrations and now our Ana is a local celebrity having her picture and life’s story published in the local paper.
Born in a small village in Poland, Ana was deported to work in a work camp in Germany in 1941. After the war, Ana and her husband were forced to walk to Germany from France after trying to seek refuge to wait for a country to have them. Migrating to Australia in 1950, Ana and her husband settled in Newcastle, where she worked at the Mater Hospital.
Her daughter Krystyna said growing up, her mother has always been very loving and giving, “she was a homemaker who loved to grow her own vegetables and we had a farm house in the backyard”.
Happy Birthday Anastasia from all of your friends at Wellington Park Private Care!
