July was another big month at our Merrimac aged care facility. Our residents enjoyed several music performances, cooking sessions plus much more throughout the month.
Gareth returned to our aged care gold coast facility with drums and percussion instruments and once again did not disappoint. Everyone got involved and it was great to see everyone having a great time.
In the Kitchenette
There is nothing better than the smells of a cake baking in the oven to ignite our senses and memories. Ritz spent a morning making apricot balls while over at Raffles there was quite a lot of grating, slicing, peeling and mixing going on in order to create a fruit tray bake, otherwise known as ‘fruit cake’.
An afternoon with Irma
Irma returned with her keyboard and beautiful voice to deliver yet another wonderful afternoon during happy hour. Patrons enjoyed the afternoon with good entertainment, food, beer, wine, soft drinks and the odd tea.
Happy Hearts Healing Hooves
Our four legged friends return to visit on the 16th at the pavilion. Residents will get to interact with a range of animals and perhaps even take a pony for a walk. Their visit is always a special one.
Fugi High School
We will be hosting a group of international high school students from Japan on the 16th. The students are on a cultural visit to Australia and a part of the tour includes a Gold Coast Aged Care Facility. After a tour of our home, the students will be meeting residents before performing for us.
Residents are given every opportunity to visit the beautiful Gold Coast on regular bus outings. One such trip will be travelling to Twin Towns where morning tea and lunch will be enjoyed by all. The outings provide the opportunity to travel down memory lane and keep in touch with the community.
