Last month our Merrimac aged care residents were busy with Easter and ANZAC Day events as well as heading out for a spot of fishing.
All the residents at Merrimac love the regular visits from Harmony Hooves with their variety of animals, which really do come in all shapes and sizes. During this visit, residents feed, walked or are simply happy to cuddle the animals. A morning which always leaves everyone relaxed and happy.
Easter & ANZAC Day
This year Easter was celebrated with a high tea in conjunction with our fortnightly singalong. After the event, our raffles were drawn with great prizes up for grabs.
ANZAC Day is always a big cultural event on the calendar. Residents and staff were accompanied by the Mudgeeraba/Robina RSL. The ceremony was led by the RSL and was followed by readings by our facility manager, head of hotel services and nursing staff as well as a family friend of one resident. Two residents lay the wreath alongside the RSL. Lest We Forget.
Around our Home
Last month our residents were busy making chocolate Easter nests in the kitchen, had a spot of fishing, visits to the QIC Early Learning centre, preparing vegetables and taking floor games out onto the veranda.
This Month’s Activities
Mother’s Day Celebrations
Mother’s Day this year will be celebrated with a concert being as well as gifts being handed out during the day.
Social & Community
Residents will have the opportunity to join other facilities at the Never Alone Centre. Located at Burleigh, the visits give us the opportunity to meet new friends and interact with games such as bingo or enjoy a chat while watching the entertainment.
