Last month our Brisbane aged care residents enjoyed both a Valentine’s Day and Brazilian Carnival themed morning teas, plus a visit from the Kelly’s Quartet group. We also celebrated 25 years for the Community Visitors Scheme.
Valentine’s Day Morning Tea
On Tuesday 14th February residents celebrated a morning tea with a lot of love all around them!
Brazilian Carnival Morning Tea
Well what a morning on Thursday 23rd February! Residents took part in our Brazilian Carnival and all enjoyed the morning of fun and laughter. Jo put on her display of dancing the samba as the residents roared with excitement. We had ham and cheese toasted sandwiches and pastries for morning tea all the way from Brazil.
Celebrating 25 years for Community Visitor Scheme
We, Jo and Prue, had the pleasure to attend an event on Saturday the 25th February at Wynnum Leagues Club to ‘Celebrate 25 Years’ for the Community Visitors Scheme. This group of people do a fabulous job, organising volunteers to come into a variety of aged homes in our community. We are lucky to have been with them for 14 years. We would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT and thanks to Chris Webster and Donna Barker who have been our long lasting volunteers for 6+ years. We were honoured with receiving a framed certificate for our ‘14 years of recognition’, which we will proudly hang in the foyer of Wentworth.
Entertainment from Kelly’s Quartet group
On Monday, residents participated in welcoming a new group of children all from the same family entertaining us with their violins and cello. They played classical and Celtic tunes. We were all blown away by their ability to play as a quartet group and are still talking about them today. Absolutely marvellous. We couldn’t take our eyes of them. They will be performing again on the 27th March in Stanford, so any family or community members are welcome to attend!
