September was another delightful month at our aged care Brisbane facility. Our residents enjoyed Father’s day celebrations, a Brazilian themed morning tea, musical performances from The Sunshine Gals and a spot of cooking.

Father’s day celebrations
Earlier last month our residents in the Stanford building enjoyed a morning tea to celebrate the great job that fathers do and to reminisce about the good times spent with their dads. We read a few tear jerking poems and finished up with some really bad “dad jokes”. A very happy Deniss won 1st prize in the raffle and Shirley took home the 4th – Thank you to everyone that participated!

Brazilian themed morning tea
On the Monday 7th September, with the Olympics done and dusted in Rio we celebrated with a Brazilian themed morning tea. With resident enjoying the quizzes and trivia on Brazil and the scrumptious morning tea. We had music on, crazy bright colours were worn and enjoyment and fun was had.

Cooking session at Stanford
In Stanford last month the residents made some very delicious fruit mince pies. The residents enjoyed every minute of making them. They were so easy to make and they all loved the taste of the mince pies and even staff came and got their fingers on the pies.

The Sunshine Gals
Our residents took advantage of the cheerful singing from our volunteer group ‘The Sunshine Gals’ with Sue, Mary and Debbie. To keep with their social aspect, our residents joined in clapping, dancing in their seats, singing along and chatting with everyone with much delight. Residents’ family members also got in on the action.

Elizabeth’s pineapple plant
Elizabeth from Stanford was very excited when her pineapple plant produced another beautiful and delicious pineapple on her balcony, Elizabeth’s plant has been producing some stunning pineapples for the past few years.
