Last month, the Leukaemia Foundation’s annual World’s Greatest Shave day took place. And we are proud to say that Betty and Lewis Oxnam’s daughter Judith, kindly volunteered to take part.
Every day, 31 Australians are given the devastating news that they have a blood related disorder. With no on-going government funding, the foundation relies heavily on fundraising activities such as this to help fund research and support for patients and families.
We held a morning tea to mark the occasion with the main attraction being the residents watching in awe as Judith had her head shaved – they were a little bit surprised to say the least.
We raised $165 on the day and putting it into perspective – just $120 can fund a scholarship to give essential support to a major blood cancer research project for one day. Well done Judith!
