Merrimac Park Aged Care in Gold Coast: Daffodil Day, Music, Arts, and Pets
Daffodil Day
On Friday, August 23rd, we commemorated Daffodil Day. Many staff and residents of our aged care in Gold Coast wore yellow attire to demonstrate our support and raise awareness for cancer.
Raffles held a Daffodil Morning Tea with yellow cupcakes, delicious banana milkshakes, and an inviting atmosphere complemented by warm sunshine and delightful music.
Additionally, we were honored to welcome Wendy Gold for our weekly Friday Happy Hour in the afternoon. The day was filled with joy and laughter, making it a truly memorable occasion.
Sound Synergy Drums
Last month, we had the privilege of having Gareth in from Sound Synergy Drums, who performed for us and provided an educational demonstration on various African music instruments he has acquired over the years. Many residents actively participated, drumming along with Gareth. This was an enriching activity for everyone involved.
Ladies Group
We are committed to expressing our appreciation for the ladies in Merrimac Park. Last month, we organized a bus outing to HOTA, the Home of the Arts, where we explored the latest art exhibitions and visited the gift shop.
Additionally, we hosted an afternoon tea outdoors, taking advantage of the warming weather and our newly planted flowers at the aged care in Gold Coast. The gathering included yummy ice creams and refreshing beverages.
Farm Animal Therapy
Last month, Harmony Hooves made another visit and we were delighted to see a variety of beautiful animals. The residents enjoyed the company of puppies, ducklings, and a pony, all of which brought much joy and affection. The pony was also brought around to visit each resident, allowing everyone the opportunity to interact and pet it. It was a wonderful morning enjoyed by both residents and staff.
Daffodil Crafts at Merrimac Park Aged Care
In recognition of Cancer Awareness Month in August, we organized several craft sessions for our residents to create and decorate daffodils. The residents worked together to produce daffodil-themed posters for hall decorations as well as crafting beautiful cards and magnets to display in their rooms and share with friends and family.
