Mother’s Day at Merrimac Aged Care Home
Our special women in our lives were celebrated during happy hour at the beginning of the month.
We started off the afternoon with a few drinks and nibbles before we celebrated one of our RN’s and pending Mum-to-be. The Mother’s Day raffles were then drawn with 8 lucky winners announced. The rest of the afternoon was spent dancing and singing along with our entertainer for the day.
For our couples residing at our home together, the husbands gifted their wives with a little something made by them.
Residents Food Focus
As part of our Food Focus group meets, minds tick over to come up with ideas for cultural lunch days which are held once per month.
Last May, Merrimac Aged Care Home residents’ taste buds traveled to Brazil because our chefs put together a couple of great dishes.
Special Celebrations in May
Our beautiful centenarian turned 103 this May and we celebrated the way she preferred. Win, who would have usually kept her day a secret, was happy to let us celebrate with her this year (twice as it turned out later).
Not entirely sure on what to get a woman who has everything, it was evident that flowers and her favourite coloured lipstick was ‘just right’. During a conversation, her three secrets were shared: having the right husband; living a good life; and doing what you want to do.
Two of our residents at Raffles also celebrated their 43rd and 45th wedding anniversaries respectively.
Both of our loving men gifted their wives with flowers and chocolates.
Residents and Families
We always encourage all of our families to visit as much as they can especially during this uncertain covid-19 time.
Gold Coast Bus Trips and Day Trips with a Mate
Every Monday, our bus heads off to explore our stunning Gold Coast.
From car to tram, to walks in the bush, one of the men at Merrimac Aged Care Home – Raffles goes off exploring almost every day with his mate.
Sharing Advice, Exercise Games, and Crafty Ideas
Always creative in some way, everyone gets together to exercise the mind and the body. New games each month are introduced and trialed while ongoing craft projects are beginning to take shape.
Our staff enjoyed getting to spend that extra time with residents, especially to listen to the wise.
