St Patrick’s Day Celebration

The residents at Merrimac Gold Coast Aged Care celebrated the luck of Irish with a Just Jeff Concert. They sang classic Irish hits such as Danny Boy and When Irish Eye Are Smiling. At Happy Hour, Resident’s tried Green Beer and Green Wine while they played games such as guessing their Leprechaun names and Irish Trivia.

Old MacDonald’s Farm Visit

We had a quick escape to the country with a visit from Old MacDonald’s Farm. They brought Ducklings, Chicks, a Guinea Pig and two Goats. Old MacDonald’s farm visited both Raffle’s and Ritz to the delight of everyone.

For a number of staff and residents, it was their first time seeing a guinea pig. However, at the end of day, the two goats one nicknamed Elvis by Judy and the other named Curly by Marie, stole the show with their cuddles. Old MacDonald’s farm returns on the 7th of May.

Pet Therapy with Maizie

Joining our team is Maizie the 7th month old King Charles Cavalier. Maizie enjoys long walks on the beach, steak dinner (rare) and oodles of cuddles. She has become a fast favourite at Raffles with Carol and Dallas. Maizie will be visiting fortnightly to both Raffles and Ritz starting in April.

Greek Independence Day

Merrimac Gold Coast Aged Care went Greek for a Day with our residents having a Greek Cultural Morning Tea. We enjoyed the sensory cultural experience of tasting feta cheese, olives, spanakopita and grapes.

Greek Trivia was held in the morning, where the winner won a jar of kalamata olives. Congratulations to Ailsa and Jeff H! John X taunted and showcased traditional Sirtaki Dance accompanied by Sophia and Thalia singing along.

Easter Celebrations

The Easter Bunny brought cheer and chocolate to MPPC on Thursday the 28th with egg and spoon races, bonnet judging and Easter trivia. Our Bonnet Winners were Judith H. for best Model, Marjorie M. for Best Bonnet and John X. for best in both.

Your egg and spoon race had no winner as not a single egg was dropped. Judy Y. and Mel B. amazingly held on for over 20 minutes! Margaret N. won our guess the number of egg prize with the closest guess of 65 to the correct number of 62.
