The month of March was filled with various activities for the Gold Coast aged care residents such as a variety of entertainment, crafts and St Patrick’s Day.
Our Ritz residents have been keeping fit with their regular exercise programs and utilising the new television for a month of chair exercise.
Our residents always love the entertainment that’s on offer at Merrimac Park Private Care. Last month, residents enjoyed some wonderful performances from Just Jeff, Sundancers and Irma Courtney.
St Patrick’s Day
Our Merrimac aged care residents cooked up a storm for extra happy hour treats. Raffles made some amazing Irish soda bread, and Ritz enjoyed making little balls of sugar called Irish potato candy. Then the residents enjoyed a drink and played Irish theme word games.
In the Ritz building, we have started a regular monthly movie morning filled with popcorn and ice cream while still enjoying small activities and visits like crafts, board game, word games and found by the hound.
Special moments that keep us smiling might seem so small but mean so much like sitting in the sun enjoying a good conversation with a nice hot cupper, practising old skills we may have forgotten or learning new ones.
Meet Our People
Meet Marley, who was born in Blacktown, NSW. Marley spent most of her life within the Sydney area. After Marley finished school, she attended sandwich TAFE to studied hairdressing. She spent a year in a salon in Maroubra doing her apprenticeship.
At the age of 20, Marley travelled abroad starting in Indonesia followed by Thailand, Iran, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Turkey plus she spent some time driving around Europe. Turkey was Marley favourite place to visit as she was enchanted by the culture and enjoyed the atmosphere of the markets. Marley finished her 18-month journey in America with her friends.
When Marley returned, she spent a few years working as a hairdresser around Sydney and on the P&O summer time cruising before she settled down to have three lovely children; Sarah, Alana and lee.
After 20 years, Marley and her husband went their separate ways, and 20 years ago Marley met the love of her life, Mark. Marley has lived life to the fullest and has a wonderful take on life.
