Merrimac Park Christmas and New Year Celebration

Merrimac Park Christmas Market Stalls

It’s become a tradition at Merrimac Park every year to host our Christmas Market Stalls when residents, staff, and family have a fabulous time stocking up and bargain hunting for presents for friends and family (or treating themselves!).

This year brought out the weird, unusual and wonderful gifts, knick-knacks, plants, beauty and jewellery items, children’s gifts, hobby items and memorabilia. It was a fun morning and everyone left a little lighter in the pocket but much richer in presents and some with very happy faces.

Christmas Entertainment and Concerts

Leading up to Christmas is always a happy time of music, concerts, and entertainment. Just Jeff, Kerry Swan, and Irma Courtney kept the residents full of Christmas cheer, dance, songs, and impromptu instruments playing by residents in the Christmas Spirit.

Merrimac Park enjoyed a virtual singalong Christmas concert with Neil Diamond and for New Year’s Eve, a Michael Buble singalong concert.

Merrimac Park Resident’s Christmas Party

What a wonderful time of the year this Christmas has been. Staff love celebrating with our residents and making sure they enjoy it to the fullest. Santa visited every resident with gifts in his sack and a merry Ho Ho Ho as he gave out the presents.

A decadent Merrimac Park Christmas Lunch with music was made for a fabulous fun time.

Carols By Candle Light

Flickering candles and the glow of Christmas Cheer set the beautiful atmosphere of the day when we all joined in for our yearly Carols By Candlelight. Irma Courtney led us into hymns, Christmas songs, and beautiful worship with her rich, warm, and melodic voice.

Keeping Active

A variety of activities throughout the Christmas season kept residents involved, happy, and active. Early morning exercises, balloon tennis, soccer circle, pet therapy, ping pong, cooking, crafts, Christmas Bingo, and even a Throw The Thong At Santa game made sure residents kept a smile on their face.

Gareth and The Drums

Every three months, Sound Synergy with Gareth and his drums visits us, and it’s one of our residents’ favorite activities. Tribal beats, dancing, drumming, and percussion creativity came alive in their hearts and everyone, as always, had a great time.

Happy New Year Hour

Happy New Year! We celebrated New Year’s Eve this year with a special Michael Buble sing along while we popped the corks, celebrated with our friends, and had a fantastic end to the year.

Keeping in Touch with Family

With Covid restrictions being eased, Merrimac Park Christmas Season welcomed many families to come and join in our festive atmosphere with their loved ones sharing special moments together.
