Wellington Point Aged Care Melbourne Cup and Remembrance Day

Melbourne Cup

Sweepstakes were taken and everyone dressed for one of the most awaited Wellington Point Aged Care events in both Wentworth and Stanford. The excitement of the race certainly added to the atmosphere in the activity rooms where the anticipation grew with the race commencing.

The activity rooms looked amazing with vibrant colours which added a special touch to the celebration of this great event.

Both men and ladies dressed up for the occasion looking absolutely amazing in their hats and fascinators, and we certainly had a high fashion for the Melbourne Cup here at Wellington park aged care.

Refreshments were served and lots of socializing which made a fun-filled afternoon. Residents and staff had a great time and had lots to talk about that evening at the dinner tables.

Woodwork Project

We were very fortunate to have received some old chairs as donations. They required a bit of tender love and care to restore back to their glory in new looks.

Residents certainly enjoyed sanding the chairs back and look forward to more activities to restore these lovely chairs.

Remembrance Day Service

On the 11th Day of the 11th month in the 11th hour, we all paused for a minute of silence and remembered those who made a sacrifice for our country. This was one of the most beautiful Wellington Point Aged Care events held in both Wentworth and Stanford with residents, staff, and family members of former residents coming together.

We remembered those soldiers and their families that made the biggest sacrifice to enable us to have a better life. We also held a service to remember those lovely residents of wellington park private that had passed over the last year. It was certainly a beautiful morning with lots of memories shared.

Gardening in Diamond

The residents of Diamond have been awaiting the arrival of the new flowers for the courtyard area and happily assisted the lifestyle assistant Susan with planting and watering them.

Residents are looking forward to watching them bloom when they go outside to the courtyard area for their daily morning tea. They and the staff have spent time reminiscing about gardening and their favourite plants to grow.

Music as One of Wellington Point Aged Care Events

Residents from Wentworth and Stanford had a fantastic time. They commented that they had the best time and absolutely loved the bagpipes. They also enjoyed all coming together for this activity.

The music was amazing and the Ormiston pipe band certainly knew how to get residents and staff involved in the fun and have a ball. Such a great morning and lots of reminiscing with their song choice.

Ten Pin Bowling

Residents at Stanford got to enjoy some ten-pin bowling held in the activity room. It was so lovely to see the encouragement shown by residents supporting each other. They all did extremely well and everyone managed to put at least one pin down – even they were surprised.

Every time we play this game in Wellington Point Aged Care events like this, the residents are achieving goals which is amazing to see.
