Wellington Park July Newsletter

Last month our Redland City aged care residents were very busy with lots of events such as a visit from Brain Trainer Plus for brain training activities, Ten Pin bowling and a welcoming winter morning tea.

Wentworth Brain Trainer Demo

Brain Trainer Plus visited our Wentworth aged care residents to showcase their brilliant user-friendly devices through the power of game. These games are designed to stimulate cognition and memories through entertainment and interactivity. There were many games and levels to cater for all including find and match pair cards, listen and match the sound, memory images and pick the imposter as well as Simon Says and remember the number sequences.

Wentworth residents enjoyed this experience tremendously where they showed their skills. The ladies table played name that tune, the mixed table played with the mathematical challenge, and the gents table showed their skills while working as a team during world trivia.

Stanford Ten Pin Bowling

Stanford residents came together to try their ten-pin bowling skills. Some were a little unfamiliar with the game at first, others were keen to show off their skills and knock down those pins!

It didn’t take long before friendly competition grew, and excitement evolved as each turn taken brought the pins spilling across the floor!

What an energetic morning!

Stanford Walking Group

Stanford residents took to the fresh air and sunshine for a good dose of Vitamin D, after a slip slop slapped of course! We made our way around the grounds and chatted while we walked.

No outdoor adventure is complete without a visit to Eden Farm, and that’s where we headed with some goodies for the animals to munch on, before heading back for our own lunch and a well-deserved rest.

Stanford Musical Memories

Our residents of Stanford enjoyed a performance by the group, Musical Memories. The group performed a variety of songs that evoked special memories and left the audience feeling truly uplifted.

With an array of colourful and dazzling costumes, radiant and cheerful entertainers, it was a morning of merriment and delight!

Glenys & Bryan Showcasing their Talents.

Our Wentworth residents enjoyed their time being entertained by Glenys and Bryan with their ballroom dancing skills. Due to an unforeseen injury to Bryan last month, Glenys and Bryan had to cancel their performance with us. However, they both demonstrated they were back on top form this month with their twists and turns, waltz and foxtrots.

Our residents could choose to either sit and watch or join Glenys and Bryan on the dance floor to showcase their talents.

Mate verse Mate, State verse State.

Footy season is upon us again, and we celebrated game two of State Of Origin in true QLD style with food, beer and good old fashion mates getting together for this long-held traditional game of footy.

Staff, family members and residents got together and dressed up in their colours for a party and a good cheer where Blues and Maroon supporters sitting along side by side, which was a fantastic sight to see. The evening finished with the Blues winning, marking the score of one game each, which will make the 3rd and final game very exciting watch.

Stanford Welcome Winter Morning Tea

The residents of Stanford came together to welcome winter with a social morning tea. With cups of hot chocolate filled with marshmallows, tea, coffee and delicious cake, the residents laughed and chatted the morning away.

The snowflake table decorations were made by residents during the Artists Shine group and were admired by all that attended. Residents also took part in a winter themed quiz and were quick off the mark, firing questions and sparking laughter and group chatter.

Memory Lane with Bill and Dawn

A fantastic morning was had by all who attended our morning concert here in Wentworth, Wellington Park. Memory Lane performed their first performance and treated our family to an array of familiar songs from Doris Day to Elvis Presley.

The contagious upbeat tunes had us all singing, clapping and toe-tapping together. There was not a person in the room that didn’t feel the joy that these two remarkable performers sent out through their amazing voices.
