Last month our residents were very busy with lots of events such as a visit from the Bayside Car Club, pirates day morning tea and a R U OK Day morning packed with festivities and raising the awareness of this special day.
Community outing to Hoya Garden Centre
The maxi taxi was filled to the brim with both Wentworth and Stanford residents, loaded ready to venture the Hoya gardens at Capalaba and their wonderful gift store.
Residents were greeted like royalty and shown to their reserved table awaiting their arrival for morning tea. There was delicious homemade scones as well as a cup of tea or coffee. Conversations were flowing all around the table as the residents enjoyed the lush surroundings.
All our residents are now looking forward to the next adventures of various cafe’s so they can try different cakes and coffee’s in the upcoming months.
We encourage all our residents to attend music and movement classes, and residents have agreed that they enjoy these classes while mentioning they’re interested in having exercises twice a week.
Staff and residents enjoy having the opportunity to select their choice of lollies, chocolate, chips, drinks and treats from the trolley, which comes around every Thursday.
This is proving to be a success with all at Wellington Park.
R U OK Day morning concert with Matty Bateson
It was a lovely morning filled singing and all things yellow. Vibrant tones of yellow filled the room, and all residents and staff were encouraged to wear yellow.
The staff got right into the spirit of things by raising awareness of this significant day and explaining what it’s all about.
Matty shared a beautiful story and sang songs that touched all our hearts.
Bev Wardle R U OK Morning tea
The staff and residents enjoyed great musical entertainment while a few residents enjoyed dancing at this event. It was a great event to raise awareness about this cause, checking in with fellow staff and residents – asking the importance of “R U OK?”
A Meal with the Management Program
A small group of residents, both from Wentworth and Stanford, were invited to participate in a private lunch setting with the management staff of Wellington Park Private Care.
The table was set up in the Wentworth activity room awaiting the arrival of management and residents while lifestyle staff greeted and served them. The private lunch conversations were flowing with the topic of conversation being “dream jobs.”
Next month the private lunch will take place at Stanford.
Pirates Day Morning Tea
Staff and residents got to dress up as Pirates and attend the morning’s festivities with Debbie Hughes ready to entertain the crowd. A few residents and staff sang and danced on the dance floor.
This event was a success and enjoyed by all. The residents gave great feedback – that it was an enjoyable event.
Bayside Car Club visit
Cars came from near and far to bring some happiness and a sense of reminiscence to the residents. 9 old vintage restored vehicles joined us for the morning from the Bayside club. Some residents were happy to sit and watch while others wanted to have a look inside and have a photo or two taken.
The vehicles swapped over sharing the morning with Stanford residents as well. It was a delight for our residents to have this come to our facility, and we are all definitely looking forward to another visit in 2020.
