Pop Up Market
Last December, our residents got to buy Christmas gifts for their loved ones at our pop up market.
Our Chempro provider and a small business jeweler came to display their wares. It was a very successful morning. So many of our residents were very pleased with their goodies.
Bus Trip to See the Christmas Lights
We treated our residents to a night adventure where they went around the Gold Coast area to see the magic of the Christmas Lights. They were very impressed with the twinkling displays on show but they were also concerned about their power bills.
Pankina Singers
The Pankina Singers came to entertain our residents. We enjoyed hearing Christmas Carols sung with such gusto and spirit.
This is a group of volunteers who form a choir and perfect their voices so that they can entertain the local nursing homes and we were one of the privileged ones that were blessed to be their audience.
We thank them for their dedication to their music.
Christmas Parties for Our Residents
For Christmas season, our residents celebrated Christmas here at Merrimac Park Private Care with invited families and guests.
Everyone enjoyed a wonderful roast dinner which consisted of ham and turkey with all the trimmings. We had pudding with custard for dessert and for those that did not want a hot dessert, they were treated with a sweet pavlova and fruit.
To top off the celebration, Santa provided entertainment and showered the residents with gifts. Everyone had a magical day which they can add to their happy memories.
Grandies Program
We have been privileged to be part of the Grandies Christmas Program where some of our residents were honored to receive gifts from the kindness and generosity of a community that support their adopted Grandies.
This program was set up by two ladies who saw a need and set out to coordinate nominators, adopters, volunteers, delivery partners, donors, Sewing for Charity and families and friends who supported their vision.
This program has grown to where 408 Adopted Grandies are recipients of Christmas presents donated by these compassionate people who give from their hearts. This includes children who have shared the true meaning of Christmas by giving to their Grandie that they have never met but wanted them to know that they are remembered, valued and deeply loved.
They also do their Winter Warmer program in July which is the coldest months of the year and again they give generously.
Our Residents were so grateful and were moved to tears by these acts of kindness. It also touched all of us here at Merrimac Park Private Care who witnessed their surprise and joy as being one of the special Grandies.
