Dressing up for Melbourne Cup and Laying of Wreath for Remembrance Day
Melbourne Cup Concert and Sweepstakes
Our Melbourne Cup celebrations started with a Concert with Mercedes in the morning to get our body moving.
In the afternoon, the Race that Stops the Nation didn’t stop the residents from placing bets. We celebrated winners for the $5, $2 and $1 sweeps.
Our residents wore hats and fascinators too – which made picking the best very difficult as there were so many contenders. We had to choose 1 winner for Best Dressed – Male Category and another 1 winner for the Female group.

Picnic and Scenic Bus Trips
Our residents enjoyed the weather and scenery once a week. The went around the Gold Coast exploring, connecting with nature, and having picnics.

Remembrance Day Ceremony
Every year, we celebrate Remembrance Day and this year was a very solemn ceremony. We were blessed to hear from one of our veterans and his experiences. Our Center Manager Lauren Coad-Hingston also did a moving speech remembering our fallen soldiers and their sacrifices for us to live freely in Australia.
Finally, Pastor David gave the Commemorative address while some of our residents who served in different offices of the Armed Forces laid the wreaths in honor of those that have gone before us.
LEST WE FORGET.

Pet Therapy with Debbie
Passion with Paws puppy came and spent some time with our residents who love to pet, pat and interact with little Debbie. Our residents could not get enough love and affection from such a small fluffy puppy. We invite her to come in monthly for 2 hours so that she can make her rounds to all her adoring fans.

80’s Pop Up Market
Our residents at Merrimac Park Private Care participated in a wonderful intergenerational activity. Some of the children who visited experienced a safe trick or treating going from door to door. Residents were eagerly waiting for them so that they can share the traditional treats and sweets they prepared for them.
It was such a wonderful experience for the young ones as well as our lovely residents. There were smiles shared everywhere. The residents were also impressed with our little ones and their costumes. The Mums and Dads that came to escort them also got into their costumes which gave color to our hallways.
