NEW! Welcoming Committee, Sizzling Sausages for Australia Day, Bus Trips and More!
Bus Trips Around Gold Goast
Merrimac Park Private Care Residents enjoyed scenic drives and weather permitting picnic bus trips to different areas of the Gold Coast. Residents were blessed with fresh air in a different location each week as well magnificent views and sounds around the surroundings.

Pet Therapy
We have once a month a visit from Old McDonald Farm where they bring chickens, goats, rabbits, sheep, piglet and occasionally, their sheep dog.
Our residents can pat and spend time with them. Some of the residents that were raised on farms love to reminisce about their past experiences such as doing chores on the farm when they were young.
But those who were not exposed to farm life get to enjoy handling and petting the baby animals too which seems to soothe them because some of them fall asleep in their laps.

Welcoming Committee
Merrimac Park Private Care have been lucky enough to elect a Welcoming Committee that was organically formed.
These gentlemen would sit outside in front of the reception area and chat the day away. While doing so, they would greet all those that would enter to visit the facility. Hence, the “Welcoming Committee” title.
To introduce them officially, we held a coffee and cake morning tea and invited families and residents to join us for the event. We announced them and be holding once a month get together and everyone is invited to join them.
For the month of February, they will be holding a sausage sizzle for lunch and I know some residents are very excited about the news.

Happy Hour
Every Friday, our residents and family come together for an hour to enjoy music and of course light refreshments including beer or wine of their choice.

Australia Day Celebrations
We celebrated Australia Day with fun activities such as Throwing the Thong, Tossing the Boomerang and Name that Australian.
Merrimac alone consists of a variety of cultures so it was very educational to have a quiz on the meanings of the Aussie slang that has evolved over the years.
We also got to enjoy a BBQ for lunch which consisted of our sizzling sausages and beef burgers as well as chicken Kebabs. We all had a fun day!
