Australia Day, Bus Trips, and Cheese Lovers Day with Trivia
Cultural Events in January
Last month, we hosted events for Australia Day where our residents enjoyed a BBQ lunch followed by an afternoon thong throw competition. One of our winners was humoured by her prize which is a ‘left thong’ trophy.
We also held a cheese tasting event for Cheese Lovers Day. Our cheese tasters sampled a variety of cheese flavours and textures following a cheese trivia.

Bus Trips to the Northern End of the Gold Coast and Mt. Gravatt
It was quite a windy day when we arrived at Cabbage Tree Point. However, it was an enjoyable stopover where residents had a quick walk around while some joyfully watched people come and go and boats cruising.
On another trip, a group headed up to Mt. Gravatt to have lunch at the Lovewell Cafe. Residents enjoyed the experience of ordering and paying for their own meals independently and having the view of Brisbane while they ate.

Being a Little Creative
Using our imagination doesn’t stop at childhood.
Last month, residents used their own hands (our arts theme) to draw/cut/paste and, inspire.
During another session, a group in memory support created a money tree which is currently being raffled as a fundraiser.

Volunteer Groups and Around the Grounds Activities
The Circle of Men visit each week and get together with the boys of Wellington Park Private Care. A member had driven his classic MG for the men of Wentworth to have a look at during their visit.
Residents also valued the time getting out and about on their own while others challenge each other during ball or table games.
Then there was of course the task of taking down our Christmas Decorations from the last season.
