Cheerful Christmas Days with Gingerbread House Challenge, Carols, and Acts of Kindness
The Gingerbread House Challenge
Last December, right around our home, everyone got into the Christmas spirit.
A gingerbread house challenge was so we got to work on the construction of our ginger village. It is with great pleasure to announce that our home won the challenge.
Celebrating Christmas with our Volunteers
Wentworth and Stanford men joined together to have a BBQ Christmas Lunch with The Circle of Men Volunteers for their final visit of the year. They spent a fantastic couple of hours with great food, a few beers and lots of laughs and banter.
We also held a morning tea in honour of our volunteers for their kindness and dedication visiting residents regularly or assisting with group activities and events. We have residents who have volunteered their time too in creating handcrafted items to then donate for raffles.
Each volunteer, including Lillie (Pet Therapy Dog) was given a token of our appreciation – a certificate and hamper.
Wellington Park Private Care Residents Christmas Lunch
Our residents got together for lunch in the function rooms. We listened to our very own nurse, Geraldine who sang for us and we were entertained by gatecrashers.
Christmas Carols and Random Acts of Kindness
We had a number of entertainers who came in throughout December – Carols by Candlelight and Belly Dancers. We were also blessed by so many people in the community wanting to donate items to some less fortunate.
One such person was a little girl who asked her Mum if she could donate gifts to the elderly. She collected donations from the public and then, with cart and helpers in tow, she visited up to 60 residents and gave them all a gift.
Another act of kindness was the donation of ‘bear hugs’.
